Criticism is not a motivator.

Setting limits teaches your children valuable skills they will use the rest of their lives. One day, they will report to a job where their ability to follow rules will dictate their success.

"The thing that impresses me most about North America is the way parents obey their children"    (King Edward VII , 1841-1910)

Adolescence can be the cruelest place on earth. It can really be heartless.  ( Tori Amos)

A tantruming toddler is a little ball of writhing muscle and incredible strength. It's like trying to carry a greased pig past a slop bucket.

Parents are the external regulator for kids who cannot regulate themselves.

"To be a man, a boy must see a man."  (J.R. Moehringer)

Anger

I find this quote from Gary Chapman intriguing as it relates to temper tantrums and the importance of handling them in a wise fashion.

“It may surprise you that the primary lifetime threat to your child is his or her own anger. If your child does not handle his own anger well, it will damage or destroy him. The mishandling of anger is related to every
present and future problem your child may have – from poor grades to damaged relationships . . .”

“Our psychiatrist recommended Rick to help us sort out behaviour management issues for our autistic son. He was an invaluable help.”
